About Kathryn
Kathryn's journey began in Kansas City, Missouri, where she was born and raised. In the early 1980s, she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, a place she would eventually call home. Her love for nature blossomed at a young age as she spent countless hours tending to the family flower garden alongside her mother. This early connection to the earth planted the seeds for her lifelong passion for gardening.
After graduating from high school, Kathryn joined her family’s business, KBI Construction, a commercial general contracting company. Over the next seven years, she honed her skills and developed a strong work ethic. Eager to further her education, she enrolled at Arizona State University to study Psychology. Her dedication to academics paid off, and she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
While pursuing her degree, Kathryn ventured into the world of commercial real estate, quickly establishing herself as a successful broker. Over two decades, she not only thrived in this competitive industry but also grew into an investor and property owner, building a reputation for excellence and determination.
Amid her professional achievements, Kathryn’s passion for gardening remained unwavering. She began growing vegetables in her backyard, finding joy and fulfillment in nurturing her own food. Over time, her focus shifted to organic farming, driven by a desire to cultivate produce that was both high-quality and environmentally sustainable.
Recognizing a gap in the availability of organic, fresh produce in Tulsa, Kathryn took a bold step and founded Basnett Farms. For her, this wasn’t just a business—it was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream to operate a vegetable farm and contribute meaningfully to her community. Today, Kathryn is thrilled to share her vision and passion for organic farming with the people of Tulsa, bringing fresh, locally grown produce to their tables.
